As soon as I learned about the aggression which started on February 24th 2022, I packed my bags and headed to Ukraine on February 28th. Owing to the influx of refugees at the Polish Ukrainian border  Medyka  I was asked to cover night shifts there. Meet Dr. Rajeev Fernando. Dr. Fernando is an internal medicine physician with disaster medicine and infectious disease specialties. He serves as co-chair of WADEM’s Infectious Disease Special Interest Group (SIG). He volunteers with the NGO Heal Corp and Chiraj where his service as Chief Medical Officer has taken him to places as varied as Ukraine, Darfur, and western North Carolina.

What to Expect
Dr. Rajeev Fernando is an infectious diseases specialist and an infectious diseases consultant at FEMA emergency field hospitals nationwide.
Dr. Fernando worked on treating babies with the Zika virus in Brazil and treated an outbreak of the Ebola virus in Sierra Leone. He is involved in getting out public health messages on the current Ebola virus outbreak at the Rwanda border and on the measles virus outbreak. He also worked on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Fernando is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the American Medical Association and other organizations.
